Ella is one of a series of 8″ X 8″ close-up portraits of my grandchildren.  These portraits are experimental and I return to them as I create new work.  I’m told this looks like Ella, and it shows her penchant for randomly dyed haircolor, but I don’t feel I captured her beauty or spirit and plan to do another.  What I learned from this piece is the importance of finding a candid image to base portraits on.  Stay tuned.
