The Geometry Lesson

Size: 61" x 55"
Pattern: Original
Quilting: Big-stitch, hand

It seemed to me that all the triangles in quilt designs were right-triangles that became squares or rectangles when pieced together.  I wanted to make a triangle quilt that remained only triangles.  As I laid out the quilt on the floor I was troubled that the corners weren’t working out, but ignored it and expected it to work out.  As I fussed with it I realized the reason why…there are no 90 degree angles in an equilateral triangle.  I like the resulting hexagon shape and decided to keep it.  It is one of my favorite shapes.
