The Yellow Rose of Texas

Size: 32" X 58"
Pattern: Original
Quilting: Machine quilted
Inspired by Margaret Ann Walker's high school senior picture, Toyah High School

The Yellow Rose of Texas honors my mother, Margaret Ann Walker Rodrigue. Mom was always a beauty, right up until she passed away at age 93. Her true black hair went to pure white while her face remained wrinkle-free. She was beautiful to look at, but strong! Growing up in Texas as the eldest of four girls, Texas was in her blood throughout her life, although she lived in California from age 23. Trips to Texas and visits with her family were highlights of her life. The portrait in this quilt was based on her high school senior picture. The remainder of the design reflects her roots.
